Import from China Made Easy with FR Logistics and Cargo
May 24, 2026Nepal’s private sector has strongly opposed the government’s decision to make Maximum Retail Price (MRP) labeling mandatory on all imported and locally produced goods. Businesses argue that the rule was introduced without proper consultation and is difficult to implement, especially for imported products.
Traders say foreign suppliers are unlikely to print Nepal-specific MRP labels, causing delays in customs clearance and disruptions in supply chains. While the government aims to improve consumer protection and price transparency, business groups believe the policy should be introduced gradually with better coordination between authorities and the private sector.
