How Long Does It Take to Import Goods from China via Sea Freight?
June 16, 2026The massive flash flood in Rasuwa swept the entire settlement area and took thousands of lives. The flood also destroyed one of the key trade routes between China and Nepal. The flash floods swept away both countries’ Kerung (Kyirong), also known as the Gyirong Port (or Jilong Port) (China Side), and the Rasuwa Customs Office in a matter of seconds on 26th August 2026.
Later, as an alternative, FR Logistics and Cargo started to use the Mustang Customs Office in Nhechung (Lomanthang), Korala Border. As the number of containers was also swept away in Rasuwa, FR Logistics and Cargo faced a container shortage, and the fare charged rose to 5 times as much. Despite this, FR Logistics and Cargo successfully used these alternative routes and shipped several goods for customers.
Although the Mustang Customs Office had given some relief to trade, extreme rainfall, floods, and landslides blocked 46 sections of the route in late September. As a result, the Customs Clearing process has halted, and more than 150 containers are stuck at the yard. On October 9, 2026, the Beni-Jomsom-Korala road reopened for one-way traffic, but the vehicles couldn’t pass easily due to the slippery and muddy road.
FR Logistics and Cargo will start the customs clearance process as soon as the road conditions improve. The safety of your goods is our top priority, so we kindly ask for your patience and understanding. We assure you that we are doing our best to deliver your goods safely and as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, our other import services by air and sea are running smoothly. We are doing our best to deliver all goods safely and as soon as possible.
